Alternative Therapies

Holistic Therapy

Doctor Mulch offers a variety of all-natural, holistic treatment options for pets.  From Standard Process® veterinary supplements to NAET® allergy testing, if you are interested in a drug-free treatment option for your pet, we have several options available.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a non-surgical, drug-free treatment option for pets with various pain issues.  Laser therapy does not require sedation, and most pets enjoy receiving their laser treatment since the process is usually a relaxing sensation for them.

Many pets show noticeable improvement after their first laser treatment, but laser therapy is designed to be cumulative in nature.  Most pets require 3 to 8 sessions for maximum effectiveness; some benefit from a long-term treatment schedule with “boosters” every few months.  Your vet will recommend a treatment schedule specific to your pet’s needs.

Laser therapy has been proven effective with the following:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle strains
  • Post-traumatic injury
  • Post-surgical pain
  • Neck and back pain
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Rehabilitation
  • Post-orthopedic surgical recovery

Stem Cell Therapy

Whitehaven is currently the only veterinary clinic in the Quad Cities offering stem cell therapy for animals.  Stem cell therapy is a one-time treatment that uses the pet’s own stem cells to promote pain relief and healing in instances of arthritis, joint injury, or muscle damage.  This treatment can be performed on either dogs or cats, only takes a single day, and pets often recover rapidly from the procedure.  Talk to your vet to see if stem cell therapy would be a good option for your pet.
